Welcome to Surry County
Welcome to the official government website of Surry County, North Carolina, originally chartered in 1770. Surry County is located in northwest North Carolina and is a part of the region known as the Piedmont Triad. The county is unique in that its topography includes portions of the Piedmont, Foothills, and the Blue Ridge Mountains and is home to four pristine waterways including the Yadkin River. Surry County is home to the municipalities of Dobson, Elkin, Mount Airy, and Pilot Mountain. Over 73,000 people reside in Surry which has a diverse economy with concentrations in agriculture, automotive, advanced manufacturing, and metal fabrication. Non-emergency offices are open to the public Monday thru Friday from 8:15 a.m.-5:00 p.m, with the exception of major holidays. The Board of Commissioners typically meet on the first and third Mondays of the month, with some exceptions.

New Website Unveiled
Surry County has launched a new website aimed at creating an improved interactive experience for users. Residents can now sign up for email alerts about activities and initiatives that are being conducted or considered in an effort to keep County stakeholders better informed.
FY 2013-14 Budget Presentation..
During the June 3rd Board of Commissioners Meeting the County Manager will present his recommended budget. This will be followed by a public hearing on June 17th where citizens are invited to comment to the Board on the budget proposal.
