Surry County Reports Second Death Related to COVID-19

Surry County Health and Nutrition Center is reporting the second COVID-19 associated death in Surry County.

The individual died on May 25, 2020 from complications associated with the virus. The patient was in their early nineties. To protect the families’ privacy, no further information about this patient will be released.

Samantha Ange, Surry County Health Director states, “We are saddened to report that we have received confirmation of a second death of a Surry County resident due to COVID-19. Our hearts are heavy, and we will certainly remember the family in our thoughts.”

Surry County Health and Nutrition Center would like to remind everyone that there is widespread community transmission of COVID-19 and it is important to remember the 3 Ws: Wear, Wait, Wash:

• Wear a cloth face covering when in public.
• Wait at least 6 feet from others. Avoid crowded settings.
• Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.
