The Director of Social Services serves as the chief administrator for Surry County and is appointed by the Board of Commissioners. Responsibilities include supervision of all Human Service operations in accordance with state and local laws, regulations, policies, and direction and guidance of the Board of Commissioners. In addition, the Director is responsible for preparing and submitting an annual budget to the Board as well as advising them on matters of concern, services, and other issues.

Making a Child Protective Services or Adult Protective Services Report:

If you are concerned a child or adult is being abused or neglected, please call our agency at (336) 401-8800 to report your concerns.  If it is after normal business hours, please contact Surry County Communications at (336) 374-3000 and ask to speak to the on-call Social Worker. 

Please do not email agency staff to make abuse or neglect reports as email accounts are not routinely monitored after-hours.
