Communications

The Surry County 911 Center provides communication support to public safety agencies in delivering the most appropriate, timely and safe response to calls for service from citizens. The Center employs highly trained, professional telecommunicators that utilize the latest technology in order to maintain our commitment to quality service.

The mission of the Surry County 911 Center is to dispatch appropriate agencies with the least possible delay after a request is received or situation is known to exist. Moreover, a second mission is to forward calls to appropriate secondary Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) as required.

The 911 Center receives approximately 230,837 calls a year and manages communications for the following agencies: Animal Control, EMS, Emergency Management, Volunteer Fire Departments, Municipal Fire Departments, HAZ-MAT, Dobson Police, Pilot Mountain Police, Surry Community College Police, Rescue Squads, Fire Marshal's Office and the Surry County Sheriff's Office.
