Postponements and Cancellations
Surry County is closely monitoring guidelines as they come out from the CDC and NC Governor’s Office. Based off that guidance, the following events are postponed or cancelled:
- March 20 Special Olympics Surry County Kickoff Party – 100+ (Cancelled)
- March 28 Surry County Parks and Recreation Easter Egg Hunt – 800+ (Cancelled)
- April 24 Special Olympics Spring Games – 1,000+ (Cancelled)
- May 1 – June 11 Senior Games – 200+ (30 events over 1.5-month period) (Postponed with Option to Modify Schedule or Cancel)
- April 26 Southeast Swim Invitational, Greensboro (Special Olympics) – 500+ (Cancelled)
- May 29-31 Special Olympics Summer Games (Cancelled)
- Special Olympics Surry County Sports Practices – 100+ (Cancelled)
- Surry Soccer League (Operated at Fisher River Park by Armfield Civic Center) – 75+ (Postponed for two weeks and will be re-evaluated after that time)
- High School and Middle School athletics at Fisher River Park – 200+ (Cancelled)
- Various County School Health and Career Fairs – 300+ (Cancelled until after school is back in session)
- March 26 Airport Authority Meeting (Cancelled)
- April 6 Surry Board of County Commissioners Meeting (Cancelled)
- April 7 Veterans Council Meeting (Cancelled)
- April 7 and 21 Board of Equalization and Review Meetings (Cancelled)
- April 9 Conference of Local Elected Officials (Cancelled)
- April 14 Surry Board of County Commissioners Budget Work Session (Cancelled)
- April 14 Soil and Water Board Meeting (Cancelled)
- Surry County Planning Board and Board of Adjustment Meetings for March and April (Cancelled)
- Cooperative Extension-related meetings (Cancelled until mid-April)
