Surry County Holds Farmer's Market Ribbon Cutting

The County of Surry will hold a ribbon cutting for its new Farmer’s Market in Dobson on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. The new Farmer’s Market is located at 903 E. Atkins St., adjacent to the Surry County Service Center near the Highway 601 exit.

The Farmer’s Market project is the vision of Surry County Cooperative Extension Director Bryan Cave and Surry Soil and Water Conservation District Director Tony Davis. Agriculture is critical to Surry County’s economy and the venue will serve a county that is a regional and state leader in total farmland.

The following local organizations donated funds to assist with the project:

  • Surry County Farm Bureau
  • N.C. Cooperative Extension, Surry County Center
  • Surry Soil & Water Conservation
  • Surry-Yadkin Electric Membership Corporation
  • Surry Communications

“We invite the media and public to come out and celebrate our new Farmer’s Market in Dobson, so they can see a facility that will add to the quality of life in our community,” said County Manager Chris Knopf. “We anticipate that many farmers, gardeners and crafters will utilize the Farmer’s Market and that the public will enjoy its offerings. We also want to thank the fine local organizations that donated funding to help this project come to fruition.”

The Farmer’s Market Grand Opening will be held next spring in concert with its first market.
