Sports Hall of Fame

Hall of Fame MonumentThe Surry County Sports Hall of Fame is dedicated to preserving the history of sports for Surry County. Its purpose is to recognize and perpetuate the noteworthy athletic tradition of Surry County by honoring and memorializing individuals, teams, corporations, companies and/or organizations that have made outstanding contributions to this tradition. The Surry County Sports Hall of Fame operates under the authority of the Surry County Parks and Recreation Department under the consent of the Surry County Board of Commissioners.

Criteria for Induction:
Hall of Fame: 
Only individuals may be nominated for the Hall of Fame.  They must be of good character and reputation, and must have completed their athletic achievement or service at least five years immediately preceding the date of induction.  Inductees to the Hall of Fame may be done in the following three categories:  Player, Coach, and Administrator.  The maximum number for each annual class is six (6), who may be living or posthumously inducted.

Ring of Honor:  Inductees in this category may be individuals, teams, corporations, companies, and/or organizations.  All inductees must be of good character and reputation and must have made a significant impact on sports in Surry County through contributions in the field of athletics.  The maximum number for each annual class will be two (2), who may be living or posthumously inducted.
