The Surry County Health Foundation funded community garden projects at five local pre-schools.  Each garden consists of several raised bed plots and is maintained by the pre-school staff and children.    Through generous support from the Health Foundation, Surry's Sweetest Diabetes Support Group is a free, bi-monthly support group for students with diabetes and their families.  Since October 2012, children from 6 to 17 years old have attended events at the skating rink, bowling alley, swimming pool, movies, and walked in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's "Walk to Cure Diabetes".    Surry County Health and Nutrition Center's Family Planning Clinic received financial support from the Health Foundation to purchase the Nexplanon Birth Control implant for currently wait listed patients.  The foundation also funded a new clinic door with a security keypad in order to better protect both staff and patients.
