The duty of the Collections
Office is to collect all
property taxes. The
Collections Office is
charged with collecting
taxes on personal property,
real property, and business
property. Various licenses
and permits are issued and
collected through the
Collections Office. N.C.
General Statues directs the
Tax Collector to employ all
lawful means to collect "all
taxes with which the Tax
Collector is charged."
Similarly, the authority to
use the enforced collection
remedies of levy,
garnishment, and foreclosure
and to advertise tax liens
are confirmed by statue and
exist by virtue of the
office of the Tax Collector. |
