Please proceed to complete your application for a Marriage License
By using this online application process, the time you will have to spend at the Surry County Register of Deeds office will be reduced. After you have submitted the application online, both the bride and groom must appear in person at the Surry County Register of Deeds office to complete the application process. When you appear in person you will need to bring the following items with you:
$61.00, We accept Debit and Credit cards.
Valid driver’s license or photo ID for both applicants - State Issued ID, Passport, Military ID
Certified copies of birth certificates for both applicants, if under 18
Social Security Cards or something with the number printed for both applicants
Divorce information - Copy of final divorce decree
If foreign born - certificate must be translated in English and certified with a valid ID
In order for the application to be accepted by the system, it needs to be filled out accurately and completely. Many of the fields are required in order for the system to accept the application. The system will check for potential errors before it accepts the application. If you realize a mistake after you have submitted the application, just bring the correction with you to the Register of Deeds office when you complete the application process. You DO NOT need to submit another application.
After 30 days, the license application you completed online will no longer be stored. If you wait more than fifteen days to come to the office to complete the application process you will be required to complete the application again.
