North Carolina General
Statutes Chapter 87
"Contractors" requires that
for any person, firm, or
corporation to engage in or
to offer to engage in the
business of building,
electrical, plumbing, or
heating and air conditioning
contracting, such person,
firm, or corporation shall
first have been licensed by
the State of North
Carolina. A private citizen
need not be licensed to
perform work on his place of
residence, if he owns the
residence. However, it is
illegal for a private
citizen to certify that he
plans to perform his work
and then hire an unlicensed
contractor, plumber or
electrician. Any
misrepresentation by a
person obtaining a
construction permit may
result in the revocation of
the permit and legal
action. Please call the
Inspections Department for
more specific information on
the State laws and
regulations on contractors. |
